Learning how to learn: A Mind For Numbers
Learning how to learn is about developing the skills, mindset, and strategies needed to thrive in an ever-changing world. One of my all-time favorite books on learning how to learn is Barbara Oakley's book "A Mind For Numbers".
If Math isn't your thing, no need to worry, this book explains effective study techniques, overcoming procrastination, and cultivating a growth mindset. These are all amazing skills to develop.
Barbara was someone who wasn't naturally gifted at learning Math and Science. But after working in the military she saw the benefits of learning Math and Science. From this realization, she decided to take on the challenge of learning some of these skills. But the only way that she figured it would be possible is by learning how to learn.
As she started to learn some of these techniques, Math and Science became much easier. Barbara became a Ph.D. in Engineering ultimately because she learned how to learn.
Below is a video that takes a deep dive into the different sections of the book.
Learning how to learn is a tool that truly everyone can benefit from. It doesn't matter if you're someone who excels in academics or someone who failed most of grade school. Learning how to learn can help achieve goals.
